First Floor Gallery Harare held its first multi-media exhibition featuring a ground-breaking audio-visual performance from German artist Stefanie Sixt and Anina von Molnar. The performance comprises of sound, visual and light projections interpreted by a dancer captured on fim, showcasing the use of new media and creative collaborations between artists of different disciplines. |

Drawing Connections at Sienna Art Institute - Sienna, ItalyThe exhibition was the fruit of the creativity of artists from over 70 countries who, responded to the invitation of the Siena Art Institute to participate with an original work in postcard format (15 cm x 10.5 cm) in a collective exhibition that played a part of the inaugural event of the school on the 24th of September. Many galleries of art have participated with their works, such as the First Floor Gallery of Harare Zimbabwe, the Yukari Art Contemporary Gallery of Tokyo Japan, the Art Street Gallery of Fredericksburg Virginia USA.

Reaching Out Exhibition at Chimanimani Arts Festival 2011Opening: 13 August 2011
Reaching out was the first visual art event at the Chimanimani Arts Festival designed to help engage with a broad audience outside Harare. Chimanimani Arts Festival was perfect since it is the largest annual arts festival attracting more the 6000 people. Works on display where from Moffat Takadiwa, Wycliff Mundopa, Zacharaha Magasa, Franklin Dzingai, Terrence Musekiwa and Brian Banda. |
Mawungira | Echoes Exhibition at FFGHOpening 30 June 2011 Mawangira was an exhibition inspired by music, its role in African life and in the work of visual artists. Promising young artists Clive Mukucha, Kura Maponga and Sky Salanje came out with works that sung and impressed the First Floor Gallery Harare audience, a job well done. |
Harare-Paris Exhibition at Le Pave d'Orsay - ParisFrom May 9 to 21, at Pavé d’Orsay, a gallery located a stone throw from the famous Louvre museum and Musée d’Orsay, five young Zimbabwean artists namely Moffat Takadiwa, Zacharaha Magasa, Wycleff Mundopa, Brian Banda and Terrence Musekiwa defied stereotypes not only of Zimbabwe and Zimbabwean art but of African art at large. They are also challenging the attitudes of audiences and their peers in Paris with their fresh and inspiring ideas. The exhibition has found warm reception having opened by Zimbabwe’s very own musical diva Busi Ncube, who came from Norway.

Austral><Afric Exhibition at The BasementOpening: 30 April 2011
For HIFA 2011, First Floor Gallery Harare presented its very first international exhibition. AUSTRAL><AFRIC by Richard Butler-Bowdon a Melbourne based international artist with extensive experience of working across Africa in countries from Sudan to South Africa and helping develop emerging urban art initiatives around the world. AUSTRAL><AFRIC presented a series of portraits of Africans living in Australia, which continued Richard’s exploration of the idea of diasporas by different peoples around the world and seeing ourselves from different perspectives. |
